10 Everyday Things You Never Knew Had A Purpose
We all have them or use them at some point in our everyday activities, but we've never stopped and asked ourselves why some features on them exist. Here's a list of things right under our noses that we never knew had an important purpose.
1. The small hole at the bottom of your padlock
This is used to pour oil into the padlock if it becomes rusty. It also allows any liquid poured into the padlock flow out.
2. The mini pocket on your jeans
It is meant for people to put their watches in. It was introduced in the 1800's to prevent watches from breaking.
3. Hole on the cap of a ballpoint pen
This is for safety. Most people love putting the caps in their mouths and may accidentally inhale them. The hole allows air to get through so they can breathe before they seal medical attention.
4. Holes on the side of converse sneakers
The shoes were initially used for basketball. The holes allowed air into the shoe providing ventilation and player's feet never got all sweaty. Second, they allow creativity in tying up your laces.
5. Soda tab hole
This feature on soda cans was designed to hold your straw in place. All you have to do is flip it around and insert your straw.
6. Blue side of the eraser
The blue side is never meant to rub off pen writing. It is meant to erase pencil on heavier types of paper.
7. Loop on the back of your shirt
Most wear shirts but never know the purpose of the loop at the back. They were made to hang the shirt from the closet, preventing them from getting wrinkled.
8. Tiny buttons on your jeans.
They were used to protect weak points in trousers back when they were made of canvas. Now they are made of heavy denim.
9. Holes on your cooking pots and pans
Other than hanging, they are used to hold your cooking utensils as you cook.
10. Shape of your screwdriver
It's shaped that way so you can simply slide your wrench when working tight angles.
