Presidents are influential figures because they are considered the first citizen of their nation, they recieve huge amount of money as salary with a loudable sum of money as allowance during their time as president, they are even entitled to different allowances after leaving the post as president.
The only president in history who defiled all odds and was even tagged a poor person, is the former president of Uruguayan José Alberto Mujica, who was the 40th president from 2010- 2015 and will be remember as the most humble and kind hearted president in history.
The president who was imprisoned for 12 years during the military dictatorship regime with many arguing that the main reason for him been humble and kind hearted was because of the years in prison.
President Mujica shunned the luxurious house that the Uruguayan state provides for its leaders and opted to stay at his wife's ramshackle farmhouse, the president donates 90% of his salaries to the poor and needy.
In 2010, President Jose Mujical personal wealth declaration, mandatory for officials in Uruguay was $1,800 (£1,100), the value of his 1987 Volkswagen Beetle.
The president said "I'm called 'the poorest president', but I don't feel poor. Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more and more".
The president who futher expressed his simplicity by saying "This is a matter of freedom. If you don't have many possessions then you don't need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself.
Truly he is a humble person, it takes forever to see a president who will care for the citizen of his country.
