Remember Makoko; A small town in lagos where people live on water, See recent photos of it.

Makoko is the name of the small but over populated water side Communities, where Millions of Nigerians have opt in to seek shelter and a roof over their head Just to survive the hardship in Lagos.

Members of makoko Community navigate the water side like normal Urban/rural areas in Lagos, Many have lived there for years, the makoko water side Communities has been a source of refuge to Many lagosian who can't afford to pay the expensive house rent in the city part of Lagos.

As more immigrants arrived and land became rare, people started to move out onto the water. Over time, Makoko became a floating realm of perhaps a quarter of a million people, although the real number is anyone's guess.

The place is Said to have it own schools, Church and even Primary Health Care (PHC) where members of the community go for medical check-up. It is so complete that there is hardly anything you can't find inside the water with the help of the boat men.

I know by now you would be wandering their means of transportation, they have elderly and young children who were born in there in Makoko, known as the boat men they are available 24 hours to ease your regular movement for some little change.

The city is nickname"Venice Of Africa" because other than it maze structure of narrow water ways, makoko offers little similarities with the fabled canal city of Europe.

Makoko is a small fishing village that sprawled in the 19th century, located in the very heart of Lagos, one of Africa biggest megapolis.
